It's a temperate rain forest. We overheard a lady explaining to her daughter that there were no tropical birds to be seen here.Because it's on the Pacific side of the really BIG Olympic Mountains, they get 133 ish inches of precipitation a year. Luckily, not while we were there, it was overcast but no rain. Hooray!
